As a diocese, we are committed to being Christ-centred, spiritually vibrant, and socially responsive. Through evangelism, discipleship, education, health, and sustainable development, we strive to proclaim the Good News and demonstrate God’s love in action.

Anglican Diocese of Tarime
Who we are
The Anglican Diocese of Tarime, part of the Anglican Church of Tanzania, is currently led by the Rt. Rev. John Msuma Nyaitara, who was consecrated as the second Bishop of Tarime in April 2025. He succeeded the founding bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Mwita Akiri, who served from the diocese’s inauguration in 2010 until his retirement in early 2025. Headquartered at St. Paul’s Anglican Cathedral in Tarime, the diocese oversees approximately 33 parishes served by 24 pastors and 34 catechists. With a growing membership of roughly 11,500 Anglicans, the diocese maintains strong international governance links through a formal partnership with the Diocese of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
Our Story
The Anglican Diocese of Tarime is located to the west of the Serengeti national park and east of a Lake Victoria, northern Tanzania, and was inaugurated on July 4, 2010. It is bordering Kenya to the north. It has 33 parishes, 24 pastors, 34 Catechists, 3 lay readers, and approximately 11,500 Anglicans.

Schools under the Diocese
Currently there two schools under Anglican Diocese of Tarime
Talanta Girls Secondary School
Talanta Girls Secondary School is a new Christian school located in the Diocese of Tarime, Tanzania, which officially opened and began teaching its first students in January 2025
Talanta Pre-Primary School
The school aims to provide quality Christian education and early childhood development in a region under the Anglican Diocese of tarime
